About

Welcome! I’m Kat, a native Michigander currently living in Northwest Michigan. I’ve been knitting and crocheting since 2014, and started Bluewater Cat Stitches (BCS) in 2021.

When I’m not stitching, you can usually find me reading, hiking, gaming, helping with invasive species removal, or chilling with the cats somewhere in the sun!

Formerly a librarian and currently a web developer, I actively try to raise awareness about efforts and issues that are close to my heart led by these organizations and groups: PEN America, Freedom to Read Foundation, the Trevor Project, and conservation programs around the state, including efforts to protect and raise the Piping Plovers population and the Conservation Stewards Program. When I’m able to, profits from BCS sales get donated to these different groups.

Currently, I sell knit and crochet goods at two local shops in Cadillac, MI: Wildflour Bakery and Michigan Coffee Co. I also demonstrate and sell at the Port Oneida Fair in Maple City each August. New as of 2025, I am now a vendor at the McBain PTO fair, which occurs at the end of November!
